If you want to learn what is Honda Sensing®, you’ll want to take a look at the advanced features of this technology suite and see how can help you stay aware of your surroundings on Methuen roads:
The Collision Mitigation Braking System uses radar sensor technology to detect an unavoidable forward collision and applies extra pressure to the brakes to mitigate the damage of the impact. Honda radar sensor technology can help determine pedestrian and vehicle collisions.¹
Road Departure Mitigation System uses sensors to measure your location in a lane of traffic. If your vehicle begins to drift from the lane without the turn signal activated, your Honda’s Road Departure Mitigation System can adjust steering and braking to make sure you stay in the correct lane.²
Unlike conventional cruise control technology, Honda Sensing®’s Adaptive Cruise Control sets an appropriate following distance to the vehicle in front, and reacts to the change in traffic speed by adjusting acceleration to maintain that set distance.³
By measuring the distance between your vehicle’s trajectory and the lane dividers on either side of the vehicle, Lane Keeping Assist System can adjust your car’s speed and steering to stay centered in the lane of traffic. LKAS can also detect curves ahead in the road and adjust your vehicle’s trajectory to stay centered.⁴
By using an intelligent camera programmed with Traffic Sign Recognition, your Honda can recognize traffic signs like speed limits as you drive and alerts you of the posted speed limit via the Head-Up display on the driver’s side dashboard.⁵
You might be asking yourself, “Is Honda Sensing® worth it if I don’t want to use these features all the time?” Yes—you can turn these features off. If you want to turn off Road Departure Mitigation™, you can press a button under ECON. Lane Keeping Assist System can be turned off by pushing the MAIN button on the steering wheel until the indicators in the instrument cluster are gone.⁶
You can also configure your Honda Sensing® CR-V or Accord settings via the optional central touchscreen. Hit “Settings,” “Vehicle Settings,” and then “Drive Assist Setup.” This allows you to change Road Departure Mitigation™ warnings, distance warnings for CMBS, and more.
If you need help modifying or turning off Honda Sensing®, schedule a service appointment with one of our reliable mechanics.
