2012 Honda Civic Natural Gas Variant

According to Japanese magazine Nikkei, "The decision to sell the natural gas Civic throughout the United States is in response to increased interest in green cars and fuel efficient cars."1

This announcement comes on the heel of the Japanese auto maker having the next-gen of Civic's CNG (Compressed Natural Gas) car hitting dealer lots, including Rockingham Honda in Salem, New Hampshire.

Official pricing for 2012's Honda Civic Natural Gas variant is a base MSRP of $26,155. The vehicle will be available for test drives at 200 dealerships throughout the US, (in 38 states) as well as vehicles coming to Canadian dealers.

CNG Civic is powered by a modified version of a 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine found in regular Civics, matted to a five-speed automatic. One of the top reasons to drive a CNG car is cost. Natural gas clocks in around 30% less than gasoline. It also produces hardly any smog-forming emissions. Civic CNG is rated at 27 mpg city, 38 mph highway, with a combined total of 31 mpg. In some states, including California, CNG vehicles can travel in carpool lanes, regardless of the number of occupants.

Honda proudly continues to make their Civic models available with Compressed Natural Gas Option throughout the world.
