The Official Debut of the 2012 CR-V

It appears that the Japanese got to take a look at the revitalized 2012 Honda CR-V before American enthusiasts. Even though we are very jealous, it is only fair considering the CUV is made by a Japanese automaker (even though many Honda cars are produced on American soil, including those sold at Rockingham Honda in Salem, New Hampshire).

The redesigned 2012 Honda CR-V will be offered in two variants. The base model offers a 2.0-liter engine delivering 150 horsepower mated to a CVT and has a combined estimated fuel economy of 33.9 mpg. The Japanese automaker's second trim produces 190 horsepower from its 2.4-liter engine with AWD. This variant has a combined estimated fuel economy of 27.3 mpg.

Officially on sale overseas on Dec 2nd, and on sale later this month in the United States the completely redesigned CR-V has been teased at numerous auto shows since early fall. The CR-V production model has numerous differences than the auto show concept.

"The edges of the grille that cut into the lights and look like they are holding the chrome slits have been blacked out and the lower part of the front bumper is completely change," according to Auto Evolution. "We're pretty sure this is what the European version will look like as well."1
